THERE ARE STILL GOOD PEOPLE IN ANTIGUA……

When customer Miss Rosemarie Simon visited the CMC Supermarket on a rainy Friday Morning (16 Oct 2025), she had no idea that just a few minutes into her shopping, she would become the target of theft.
Camera footage showed the young perpetrator monitoring customers upon entry of the supermarket. He observed Miss Simon’s basket unattended with her Kipling handbag. He swiftly grabbed it, attempting to quickly flee from the corporation – BUT the individual was also being observed by a young CMC employee who confronted him about the illegal act, and he ran away before an alarm could have been raised.
She ran him through the Vegetable Market, attempted to grab him from the back, but he was too swift for her to hold onto. He ran through an alley, and she ended her chase.
A good Samaritan, Mr. Kareem Damien Henry, was driving on Lower All Saints Road on his way to shop at CMC. He saw a young man running with what he observed was a female purse into an alley and deduced that something was wrong. Minutes later, he arrived at CMC and heard Miss Simon’s bewailing the loss of her handbag containing important documents, including her ID, Bank cards, and cash.
He quickly jumped back into his vehicle and went searching for the perpetrator, who he realized was the young man he had seen earlier. He was nowhere to be found, but Mr. Henry was able to secure valuable information, which he shared with Corporal Seaman from the Police Public Market Outpost and Officers from the St. John’s Police Station who were on the scene, minutes after the incident.
The bag was recovered in the same Alley where Mr. Henry searched, and Miss Simon was reunited with her valuables …of course, without the Cash and Bank Card. Since the subject of our story is a known criminal, it’s only a matter of time before our diligent officers will have him behind bars where he belongs.
We appreciate our customs, and we look out for each other. We at the Central Marketing Corporation (CMC) would like to thank Mr. Henry for his selfless act in assisting Miss Simon in her time of need.
